Ōtamarākau Ventures Limited Partnership

Ōtamarākau Ventures Limited Partnership

Ōtamarākau Ventures Limited Partnership brings together Ōtamarākau Farm Trust and Ngāti Mākino Assets Limited, combining whenua and outside capital to diversify a dairy farm south of Tauranga. This case study follows the staged conversion of part of the dairy platform into a kiwifruit orchard, alongside irrigation, effluent and waterway upgrades.

The partners explain how they balance profitability with kaitiakitanga, and trace the emissions reductions they expect as the conversion progresses through to 2029. Careful record-keeping keeps the venture ready for changing environmental rules.
