About Ministry for the Environment
The Ministry for the Environment (MfE) is the government agency responsible for advising the New Zealand Government on policies and issues affecting the environment, in addition to the relevant environmental laws and standards. The purpose statement for MfE is 'He taiao tōnui mō ngā reanga katoa – a flourishing environment for every generation'.
Resources and Services
MfE is a good source of information on proposed policy changes that have environmental impact. Details on how to be part of the consultation process are on their website. Along with Stats NZ, MfE repot on the state of different aspects of our environment every six months, and the environment as a whole every three years. These reports are all available on their website. In addition, MfE publish easy to consume facts, science, data and publications on:
