Growing blueberries on your whenua
Blueberries are a small-area, high-input crop. You don't need much land, but you do need acidic, well-drained soil, a lot of labour at picking time, and a few years before the plants produce a full crop.
This factsheet covers establishing and managing the plants, harvesting and labour, then setup costs, running costs and returns, using a five-hectare Waikato farm as the example. Export requirements, food safety registration and freshwater farm plans are included.
